Pebble B/C LED Pendant Light by ANDLight
Handblown glass is the perfect medium for unique pendant lighting, and Lukas Peet's design for ANDLight is no exception. Each piece varies slightly, just like the smooth river rocks they resemble—but these pebbles glow with dimmable, translucent light. ANDLight's exceptional designs are also built and assembled in Vancouver.
Link LED Pendant by hollis+morris
Simple elegance is a hallmark of Toronto's hollis+morris. The Link LED Pendant is inspired by a sail rigging shackle, stripped down to its most essential shape. But rather than a locking pin to secure rope and sail, this design secures a light, minimal aesthetic in rounded wood and bent metal. The loop can be hung horizontally or vertically as you like.
14.3 Multi-Light Pendant by Bocci
Designer Omer Arbel started his brand, Bocci, in Vancouver with an emphasis on research and collaboration. One of Bocci's most famous designs is Arbel's own 14 Series, here in the multi-light iteration. These cast glass spheres give modern spaces a warm organic feel as the light inside plays over every bump and bubble pressed into the shade.
Conic Section Pendant by Castor
At home among the art and industry of Toronto, Castor's inventive designs draw from all sorts of ideas and aesthetics. The Conic Section Pendant, in particular, was drawn from a mathematical proof. This geometric pendant is precise, elegant and just a little bit edgy. Rotate the shade to direct the light any direction through the exactingly even metal slats.
Lunette Rectangular Wall Sconce by Ridgely Studio
Zac Ridgely started up his namesake studio after graduating with a degree in fine arts. The son of an architect, he grew up with an eye for the creative arts, and lends his perspective to lighting designs of exceptional quality. The Lunette family is an elevated aesthetic made to the high standards Ridgely's entire line is known for.
Dalton LED Flushmount by Kuzco Lighting
Hand-tailored fabric gives the Dalton LED Flushmount a sharp edge and tidy appearance that's uncommon even in above-builder-grade flushmount lighting. This Canadian line was developed with industry pros in mind (read: architects and designers) but we love the approachable style Kuzco imparts to each design for everyone.
While hailing from Portugal, Viso operates a Canadian branch to serve North America. The designs are luxurious and modern with a retro aesthetic that recalls the late mid-century period. The Capella Pendant is made in Canada, finished inside and out with a metallized surface that reflects whether the light is on or off.
Keeping it close to home in Montreal, D'Armes makes a point of working with local suppliers in Quebec and Canada. And a dedication to energy efficiency lends an eco-conscious edge to designs like the Hartau Table Lamp. This retro-inspired design has a warm mix of authentic alabaster, brass and oxidized black aluminum.
Cloud Pendant by ZANEEN design
To honor their Italian heritage, the founders of Zaneen embarked on a mission to bring fine European lighting to North America. The Toronto-based brand's line has designs from all over Europe, including the Cloud Pendant by Enzo Panzieri. The fluffy, folded shade acts like a cloud concealing and revealing sunlight with its effortless, organic curves.
Innit Designs started with a Canadian who moved to Mexico to learn how to surf and wound up perfecting a retro vinyl-weave chair. The Innit Chair is an iteration of the original pear-shaped Acapulco Chair design, with the same UV-resistant vinyl cord and steel frame. Innit's headquarters are now in Toronto, along with much of its manufacturing (the rest is in Los Angeles).
Urbai 3.5-Inch Round Adjustable Trim by Contrast Lighting
Founder Michel Lecluze's 30 years of lighting research and development has resulted in another 30 years of Contrast Lighting's expert technology and innovative architectural lighting catalog. Based in Quebec, Contrast manufactures every component, from transformer to trim, like the glossy and sleek Urbai trim.
Ontario's IonDesign partners with manufacturers worldwide to bring sustainable, high-quality furniture to North America. The Danish-modern and mid-century modern influence is apparent in this curated catalog. A favorite design is the Jax Lounge Chair, with the hairpin-esque, X-shaped base complemented in the X stitching around the top of the back.
