Bocci Lighting
The Bocci StoryDesigner Omer Arbel trained as an architect in the late 1990s, establishing a multi-disciplinary design studio in 2005 that combined architecture, industrial design and material research. He named the studio Bocci, which translates into "buds" in English, and it's easy to see how the name transfers over to Arbel's designs. His modern chandeliers and single pendant designs are like mini buds of light. Why We Love Bocci LightingThe contemporary lighting designs that come from Bocci are conceptual, more about eliciting emotional response than simply providing illumination. Each individual piece may be simple, but the creation process, composition and height from the ceiling and distance from other pieces all make up what becomes a one-of-a-kind installation piece that truly inhabits a space. Bocci is also highly concerned with the environment, making their 14 Series out of recycled glass and packaging all their products in recycled and recyclable material. Fun Facts About BocciThe Bocci studio is surrounded by inspiration, located on the 5th floor of an Art Deco former printing press building in Vancouver, Canada, right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Noteworthy Lighting from BocciMade by a fascinating process of heating and cooling molten glass onto solid glass, the 28 Series collection features bubbles of glass that seem to float in midair. In this collection you'll find everything from single pendants to elaborate clusters that make an impact when installed in the entryway. And look to the 14 Series --one of Bocci's more popular collections-- for varying sizes of pendants made from orbs of cast blown glass. |
