The shade and base are composed of Fine Bone China which is slip-cast and hand-molded in the north of England, then subsequently fired in a way that creates a natural creamy finish and translucent quality. Founded in 1990 by Peter Bowles, Original BTC is a lighting company rooted in national pride, manufacturing classic and industrial British design for contemporary homes. Encouraging local enterprise, all products are exclusively produced in the UK, utilizing factories in Oxford, Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent to hand-produce and assemble the fine bone china, aluminum and lighting components used in Original BTC fixtures. In 2010, Bowles acquired Davey Lighting (a heritage brand founded in 1885 as a maritime lighting supplier) enriching the brand with industrial-grade designs and traditional craftsmanship.
