The creatives at Spanish studio Nahtran Disseny have given new life to the soft and durable bookbinding tape in their intricately wrapped Isamu Pendant from Carpyen. The piece hangs poetically in the air with near disappearing ultra-slim wires. Marvelous in its pattern, a grid frame develops the drum form and the gentle curves of the piece. Bookbinding tape is elegantly wrapped over the sophisticated frame like a stylish pleated fabric. Turn it on and watch as the awe-inspiring glow filters through the shade and diffuser, leaving behind a crisp grid silhouette.
Carpyen started in Spain in 1954 as a family enterprise and continues the intimate feel of their designs in their contemporary lighting pieces. Designers Antonio Carpintero, Encamacian and Roberto Capintero head the company as industrial talents and Pascual Salvador and Gabriel Teixido, among others, contribute to creating clean, modern lighting with a European edge.
