Named for Italian scientist Luigi Galvani. A thin layer of metal (often zinc) is coated over a underlying ferrous metal (iron, steel) to keep it from rusting. Accomplished either by electrodeposition/electroplating or hot-dip galvanization.
A type of adjustable, bendy neck not unlike that of a goose. Typically used for task lighting with desk lamps.
A technique used particularly in landscape lighting. A spot or flood light is positioned to graze a surface (wall, tree), showing its texture and creating drama.
Greenguard Certification helps manufacturers to produce--and consumers to buy--products for indoor use that have low to none chemical emissions. Products that are Greenguard certified have been determined to reduce indoor air pollution, thereby protecting human health and improving quality of life.
